Marcobay Construction recently completed the construction of a Wawa gas and convenience store in St. Petersburg, Florida. Located on Gandy Boulevard at Grand Avenue in Pinellas Park, this project was started on May 6, 2012, and is Wawa’s first bay area store. It was built on the site of a former Giordano’s restaurant.
Named for a wild goose, Wawa is a high volume gas station chain that sells $5 million in take-out food and groceries per station each year. Staffed by 30 people, each Wawa features freshly made deli hoagies, gourmet coffees, fresh-baked goods, and groceries 24/7. Wawa is finally jumping into Florida after having covered the mid-Atlantic region with 600 locations.
